Actor Dileep’s reinstatement condemned

Filmmakers and movie lovers on Friday condemned the decision of the AMMA to reinstate Malayalam actor Dileep, an accused in the abduction and molestation of a fellow actress.

A press release from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) said: “Cinema has long been an industry where gender discrimination has been rampant and endemic. A change is long due and this could be the beginning of that change. We pledge to hold hands and uphold this change so that there would be no more discrimination based on gender as much as caste and class.”
