Bengalureans can now turn their bodies into art at the city's first and the biggest tattoo festival, set to begin on May 25.

The Inksoul Bengaluru Tattoo Festival will feature over 75 tattoo experts from across the world, who will showcase their skills at the three-day event. Some of the best tattoo artists from across the country will come together to celebrate body art.

Called the Comicon of Tattoos, the event will have live tattoo sessions alongside competitions, live bands playing music and food stalls. The fest will be held at the Manpho Convention Centre near the Manyata Tech Park.

"We are known for our music and food, but are ignored when it comes to art. We have some of the most brilliant tattoo artists in the country and the world at large, and it's time they get noticed," said Pradeep Junior, a professional tattoo artist, who will participate in the event. Junior boasts of a clientele from across the world and is a known name in the city when it comes to tattoos.

The tattoo styles that will be showcased at the festival include traditional, neo-traditional, realism, illustrative, Japanese, geometric, blackwork, black and grey, and colour, among others.

Other popular artists from the city who will be a part of the event include Jessie Verve, Dominic, Pavan Jinga, Sachin Shamarao, Immanuel and Thappan Das, among a host of others.

Stays forever

"Tattoo is the only thing that stays with you until you die. While for many it is a trend or a style statement, there are some for whom a tattoo serves as a reminder of overcoming obstacles or a powerful moment in their lives," said Dominic Savio, another professional artist who will participate in the event.

"This is a wonderful time for Bengaluru as the tattoo revolution in the city is taking shape," added Savio, who has been in the filed of inking for the past nine years.

Jinga said: "This convention was long overdue as tattoo art in Bengaluru is booming and we are on par with some of the best cities in the world when it comes to tattoos. There is a lot of talent waiting to be showcased."
