Two students hurt in accident

A school bus collided head-on with a college bus in northern Bengaluru on Monday, leaving two students wounded and giving some really tense moments to 30 others. The driver of the school bus was injured, too.

The buses — belonging to Nagarjuna College and Delhi Public School — were on their way to dropping the students off at their respective institution when the collision occurred near Bagalur around 7 am. The crash was so powerful that one of the buses rammed a roadside transformer before screeching to a halt. Both the buses were damaged. Their windshields were fully smashed.

Among the injured is Nitish, the school bus driver, who wounded his leg. Two students at Nagarjuna College —  Sanjay and Darshan — suffered multiple injuries but doctors said they were out of danger.

The jurisdictional Chikkajala traffic police rushed to the spot and took the students to a hospital, besides informing the management of both the institutions, which then sent other vehicles to pick the students up.

The school bus driver was arrested after a preliminary investigation found that his rash and negligent driving had resulted in the crash. Police have seized both the vehicles and warned the school management to ask its drivers to drive slowly.
