JOIN USA 48-year-old woman was found dead under under mysterious circumstances at her house in Someshwaranagar in Siddapur on Wednesday night.
A senior police officer said that the deceased Riyana Bhanu, wife of Syed Irshad, a scrap dealer, was found dead in her room. The incident came to light when her mother visited her house on Thursday morning.
The officer added that based on the statement by the deceased’s mother, the Siddapur police registered a case against Irshad.
The victim’s mother alleged that the couple often quarrelled over trivial issues. Irshad may have thrashed his wife to death following an altercation, she said. But the husband stated that Bhanu was suffering from epilepsy and fell to her death while he was not at home.
The police are waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain the cause of death.
Meanwhile, there was tension in the locality on Thursday during Bhanu’s last rites as both families began to quarrel. But a Hoysala team rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
