Last Updated 20 October 2018, 20:44 IST

A 52-year-old woman’s bloated and highly decomposed body was discovered by local residents in Hennur Bande, East Bengaluru, on Saturday.

Police identified her as Shanthi, a housemaid from the nearby Lingarajapuram, and have picked up two people who were in touch with her just before she went missing on October 9, 2018.

They are also checking her call detail record to zero in on other suspects.

Shanthi’s family had lodged a missing complaint with the police shortly after she disappeared.

On Saturday morning, residents of Hennur Bande woke up to a foul smell and were later stunned to find the body. The jurisdictional Banaswadi police rushed to the spot after being informed and took the body to the BR Ambedkar Hospital for post-mortem.

Police are certain that the woman was murdered but cannot determine how she died because the body is bloated and highly decomposed. A senior police officer said they were waiting for the post-mortem report.
