A gang of women is on the prowl in and around Majestic, robbing people after luring them with the promise of sexual favours, the police say.

Mahalingaiah K (26) from Kunigal was robbed by two women, who threatened him saying they would file a case of sexual harassment against him. The women then made away with Rs 3,250 on the busy KG Road in broad daylight on Monday.

In his complaint to the police, Mahalingaiah said he had come to Bengaluru for work and was waiting for an autorickshaw to go towards Richmond Circle. When an autorickshaw finally stopped and as he was about to board, two women approached suddenly, and forcefully entered the vehicle with him. Once they boarded the vehicle, the women started demanding cash. It looked as though the auto driver was hand-in-glove with the women, the police said quoting the victim.

The women threatened Mahalingaiah saying they would create a scene and gather people if Mahalingaiah didn’t cooperate. They told him they will file a molestation complaint.

An almost dazed Mahalingaiah tried to reason with the women, but the duo checked his pockets and took out Rs 3,250. Further on, they pushed him out of the vehicle and sped away with the driver, said the complaint.

Thereafter, Mahalingaiah rushed to Upparpet police to file the complaint. The police have taken up a case of robbery and are on the lookout for the women.

However, the police said Mahalingaiah was approached by the women offering sexual favours. According to the police, Mahalingaiah was trapped and robbed.

Not the first time

At least two similar cases were reported in the Majestic area, near the bus stand and the city railway station, over the last one month.

In late January, two women had lured 25-year-old Manikanta, offering sexual favours while he was waiting for a bus at the KSRTC bus stand to return to his native, KR Pete in Mandya district. Later he was abducted and robbed likewise.

In September last year, a woman robbed Ajit Das (28), from Tripura, who arrived at the railway station from his hometown in search of a job. The women lured him too and later robbed his valuables, including his mobile phone, Rs 900 in cash and identity documents.

The Upparpet police have formed a special all-women team - Obavva squad - comprising lady constables to check such incidents.
