Last Updated 26 August 2018, 18:02 IST

The family of a civic worker has been staying in a public toilet in Santhekatte in Belthangady Town Panchayat for the last four years.

Bhola Mehta, a native of Madhuvan village in Bihar, has been living in the toilet along with his wife Radhadevi and daughter Neha.

He is working as a cleaner of toilets in Town Panchayat limits. As there was no housing facility for them, they lived, cooked and slept in the toilet.

Madhuvan said that the memorandum submitted to the Town Panchayat has not yielded results.

“We have three children and one of them is staying with us. My daughter is studying in Government Model Higher Primary School. There are swarms of mosquitoes in the place. There are meat shops in the vicinity. My daughter suffered from fever recently. There are no basic facilities for us,” said Madhuvan.

Town Panchayat Chief Officer-in-charge Sudhakar said that the administration will provide basic facilities to the family.

MLA Harish Poonja and former MLA K Vasanth Bangera visited the place and asked the Town Panchayat Chief Officer to relocate the family to a building closer to Belthangady bus stand.

Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Ambedkar) Mysuru zone organising convener Chandu L and leaders B K Vasanth and Nemiraj Killur were present.
