Members of District Congress Committee (DCC), Mangaluru South Block Congress and Ullal Block Congress will take out a Jatha (Rally) from Talapady to Mahaveer (Pumpwell) Circle in protest against the delay in completion of flyovers at Talapady and Pumpwell on January 28, former MLA J R Lobo said.

Speaking to mediapersons at DCC Bhavan here, on Friday, Lobo said the rally, ‘Rastriya Heddari Mattu Melsetuve Kamagari Pooragolisi: Janara Jeeva Ulisi’, will begin at 9 am and will end at 5 pm.

District In-charge Minister U T Khader, former minister B Ramanath Rai, District Congress Committee President Harish Kumar and others will take part. He said UPA government had provided grants to upgrade the Talapady-Byndoor National highway into a four lane. “But the BJP-led NDA central government completely neglected the project.”

The work on Mahaveer (Pumpwell) flyover is lying idle for past 10 years. The centre’s failure in completing these projects will be a major issue in the upcoming Parliamentary election, Lobo said replying to a query.

Lobo, further, said the MP (Nalin Kumar Kateel) during a recent meeting with NHAI officials and consultants had warned of imprisoning officials in the presence of the police officials. “This kind of incident is unheard of,” he said.
