JD(S) wants govt to acquire race club, golf club land

The agitators said as many as 139 acres government land is situated in heart of the city and has been given on contract to run the race course.

Although, the contract lapsed in 2005, the government has still not made up its mind to take into its possession the land worth crores of rupees. They said the deputy commissioner, Harsh Gupta who has been removing encroachment of tanks in the district, has not bothered to take possession of the race club property. This has given room for suspicion, they alleged. Many rounds of discussion held with the DC in this regard, has not yielded any results, they said. Need of the hour was to take possession of the said property as well as dues from the race club management.

The agitation was led by MLA Sa Ra Mahesh, JD(S) City Unit President Rajanna, Working President SBM Manju, State JD(S) General Secretary Gurumallesh, Mohammed Sharief, M J Ravikumar, R Lingappa and Mahadevappa.
