Med college staff case: HC for amicable settlement

Last Updated 28 September 2010, 18:34 IST

Hearing a petition by Vedavathi and others, who had moved the High Court challenging the State Government order to relieve them of their services, Justice Ram Mohan Reddy has directed the parties comprising of the State Government, petitioners, Selection Committee and the Governing council to conduct a meeting on October 6 and come out with an amicable settlement and submit the same to the High Court within October 8- the next date of hearing.

The Court has firmly said that there will be no more adjournment in this matter. Earlier, during the hearing, Justice Reddy lashed out at the State for its interference in the administration of Hassan medical college, which is a registered society. When the Additional Advocate General, K M Natraj,  submitted that the Hassan medical college is an autonomous body, the court objected to it describing it as ‘limited autonomous.’

The court has observed that the State has failed to act against the erring officials responsible for the mess of recruitment. The court has also suggested the government to bring back the selected candidates at least for three months.
