BITS Pilani students selected for scholarship award

Four first-year students from BITS Pilani — Ankita Sarda, Shuja Shabir, Vaibhav Grewal and Prakash Singh — have been selected for the Aditya Birla Group Scholarships, 2010. The students are among the 23 finalists chosen for this year’s award. Out of the 23 scholarships awarded this year, 11 scholarships were given to students under the Science/Technology category. Among the Science/Technology category institutions, BITS  bagged the highest number of awards. The  panel of judges consisted of Rajat Gupta, Director, McKinsey & Company; Prof R V Hosur, Director, Department of Atomic Energy’s Center for Excellence in Basic Science; Prof Deepak Mathur, Senior Professor, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, among others.

TAPMI launches research centre

T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) has launched a research centre called ‘India Blue Ocean Strategy Research Centre’ (IBOSRC), in collaboration with Blue Ocean Strategy Regional Centre, Malaysia, in Manipal. The centre aims to train corporates, students and faculty to strategise and develop competition through the free market system. As a part of the launch of IBOSRC, a one-day symposium was held at the research centre. It was chaired by Dr KRS Murthy, former director, IIM Bangalore. At the launch, Dr Saji Gopinath, Director of TAPMI, said, “We believe it will help the Indian industry, student community and the faculty immensely as we are living in an era where market dynamics are changing rapidly and continuously.”
