Cartoon time

A cartoon exhibition of the select works of cartoonist Shyam Mohan, organised by the Indian Institute of Cartoonists, will be open for public viewing till October 9, between 10 am and 6 pm, at Indian Cartoon Gallery, Midford House, off MG Road. For details, call 9980091428.

Different strokes

Intricate: From Kurukshetra.Galerie Third Eye is holding the exhibition ‘Abstractive Illusions’ till September 30. Cultural Connections (Kurukshetra), by artist Sudeep Mukerjee, will be held from October 1 to 31.

The painting Kurukshetra represents the battlefield of the great Indian epic Mahabharata.  Lord Krishna is playing a flute with the screaming horses around him.


Renowned artists S Sreenivas Reddy and Hari Rao have curated a contemporary art exhibition Innerscapes Bengaluru 2010 to be hosted from September 30 to October 3 at Alliance Francaise. The timing is 10 am to 7.30 pm.

‘Every Sound...’

The Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan will have a presentation of Beate Engl, the German artist-in-residence at 1 Shanti Road.

This exhibition is the outcome of her six-week sojourn in Bangalore.
The exhibition called Every Sound Alarms will be held from October 1 to 5,10.30 am to 7 pm.


Bimba Art Foundation will present Rasalok, still theatre in miniature art, on October 2, 6.30 pm. Watch Ganga Avataranam, The River Goddess Descends, Sankaracharaya Rolls The Cosmic Dice and Krishna the divine servant.

A Dasara and Deepavali festival exhibition-cum-sale of exquisite handwoven silk and cotton saris and dress materials is being held at Co-Optex Aishwarya Showroom, Kamaraj Road, Commercial Road. The expo will be on till October 5, from 10 am to 8 pm.

Handicraft expo

The Crafts Council Of Karnataka will be holding the release of the book Metal Crafts Of Karnataka and the inauguration of Vastrabharana 2010 on October 1, 10 am at Chitrakala Parishat.

 Vastrabharana will showcase handicraft and handloom products from across the country.  The products will include textiles and jewellery.

The exhibition will be on till October 6 and the timing is 10.30 am to 7.30 pm.

Festive treat

The Bengaluru International Arts Festival 2010 (BIAF) will be held in seven different venues from September 30 to October 10.

Dutch duo

The Bangalore School of Music, in collaboration with CCC–Mysore, will present a rare combination of Voice-Guitar Duo of Classical Music from Netherlands on October 1, 7.30 pm at Alliance Francaise auditorium.

Carnatic vocal

Bangalore Lalithakala Parishat will present a Carnatic vocal recital by Vidushi K Vrinda Acharya on October 1, 6.30 pm at H N Kalakshetra, National College, Jayanagar, 7th Block.

She will be accompanied by Vidwan J K Sridhar on the violin and Vidwan R Adamya on the mridangam.

Sean live

Sean Kingston will perform live at Hard Rock Café, St Mark’s Road on October 3, 8 pm. Sean Kingston’s music blends rap, reggae, pop, and doo-wop.

He writes or co-writes all of his own songs. Kingston is distinctive from most other hip-hop artistes in keeping the language of his music absent from profanity.

‘Raag Sangeet’

Sursagar will present Hindustani Raag Sangeet by Arshad Ali Khan on October 2, 10.30 am at Havyak Mahasabha, 8th Main, Malleswaram.

He will be accompanied by Pt Ravindra Yavagal on tabla. Vyasmurti Katti will be on harmonium. Entry is free.

Double treat

BFlat will present two concerts this weekend. On October 1, Sulk Station (down tempo electronica) will play at 8 pm while the Lounge Piranha will play at 9 pm.
On October 3, Swarathma (Indi folk rock) will perform at 8.30 pm.



Indian Ensemble will present Rizwaan, a play in Hindustani and English, based on Agha Shahid Ali’s collection of poems The country without a post office at Ranga Shankara.  The play is written and directed by Abhishek Majumdar.
