Many things to look forward to...

OCTOBER SKY
Last Updated 30 September 2010, 15:33 IST

As the monsoons leave us, the month of October promises to bring a lot of entertaining events, festivities and celebrations across the country.

Even in the City, there is something for everybody, and youngsters tell Metrolife that they sure have a lot to look forward to this month, especially since the month begins with holidays.

“This is my first year in the City and I had a lot of things to adjust to, from hostel to college life. I loved every bit of it but I also miss home. So I am looking forward to October as I get to go home and spend some quality time with my family,” says Nitya from Kerala.

But that’s not all! The first weekend of the month will also see major releases like Anjaana Anjaani and Endhiran. With the tickets for Endhiran having sold out a week earlier, Ajay, an ardent fan of Rajnikanth, says he has been looking forward to the film for almost two months now.

“I believe Rajnikanth is a true entertainer and the film has already created such a buzz that I can’t wait to watch it on the big screen. It’s one of those films that one just
cannot miss,” he adds.

If it’s the hyped movies for some, there are others who are looking forward to the Commonwealth Games.

Having received enough publicity already for reasons both good and bad, the games are all set to start on October 3. Rijo, a student, hopes that they are a success.

“CWG has become an issue of national pride and I want the games to be a huge success. We have had enough of negative publicity. I think it’s time to get our acts straight,” says Rijo, who will make sure he will watch the games on television.

Also grabbing eyeballs on television is the return of popular game shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati (October 11) and Bigg Boss Season 4 (October 3). KBC marks the return of Amitabh Bachchan on small screen and ‘Bad Boy’ Salman Khan is all set to host Bigg Boss. So the small screen will definitely be a treat for the eyes. “Both the shows are so interesting that it will be difficult to choose which one to watch. The promos of Bigg Boss are so good that I can only imagine how the show will be once it airs. Being the holiday season, it will be nice to have some good entertainment,” says Priyanka, a student.

Also bringing some more colour to the City will be the festivals like Navratri, Durga Puja and Dasara.

“From shopping to the dandiya raas and visiting those, who arrange the dasara dolls, I am sure there will not be a single person who will not like this month. I am particularly looking forward to attending the dandiya raas with my friends and dancing the night away,” says Sanjana, a student.
