CM reiterates to make Bangalore world class

Speaking to reporters after laying foundation stone for the 31 km long signal-free strech at  Devarabeesanahalli junction here on Friday, he said that a new  infrastructure development scheme for the City will be announced soon, in coordination with the civic agencies.

“My government will accord priority to improvement of traffic and transportation system and upgradation of existing roads and construction fly-overs. Phase I of the Bangalore Metro project will also be functional in 2010. I have been discussing the progress of infrastructure projects with my ministers in the last two days” he said.

The Chief Minister added that though the Outer Ring Road was originally planned in 1964, by the then government but the proposal did not see the light of the day till 1990.
Minister Aravind Limbavali, who spoke on the occasion said the CM will accord priority to development of all constituencies in the City.

The Rs 240.03 crore Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) project, when completed, will ensure faster movement of vehicles along the ORR. The project, divided into two packages, includes construction of underpasses and road over bridges, and has been awarded to Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) and Simplex Infrastructure Limited.
