Technical seminar on defence contributions

 It will be inaugurated by Medical Education and District-In-Charge Minister S A Ramdas.

Disclosing this at a news conference here on Saturday, MLC G Madhusudhan said the subsidiaries of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) such as HAL, ADE, GTRE, LRDE, DARE, BEL, DFRL and IROBOT will be participating. Senior scientists from those organisations would attend and share their experience with youth.

They would also highlight contributions of defence for overall development of the nation as well as its importance. Each speaker will be given 15-20 minutes time to put forth their ideas. Col Bisht, commanding officer of NCC will also deliver a special lecture on the occasion. Students from engineering, ITI, polytechnic and degree colleges of Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagar will participate.

Robots

The MLC said the highlight of this year’s exhibition will be display of eight varieties of robots from IROBOT. One of the robots will identify around 60 kinds of smells. A few robots will help to identify explosives. They too would be displayed at the exhibition. The idea behind this was to create interest among youth in defence as well as sensitise them about basic science. Madhusudhan said all important models of aircrafts such as Tejas and others would be put on display on the sprawling premises of Doddakere Grounds. The exhibition will be open from October 12 to 20 from 10 am to 8 pm. Entry is free. Though the exhibition opens at 3 pm, this exhibition will be opened for students at 10 am. General Cariappa Defence Exhibition will be opened by Home and Transport Minister R Ashok on October 12 at 5 pm.

Medical exhibition

For the first time, a medical exhibition will be held in ground floor of Dasara Exhibition Building under the name of ‘Sushruta Medical Sciences Exhibition’ in which medicos and others will participate.

The dissected human bodies and preserved donated bodies being maintained by medical college would also be displayed. Besides, a healthy and a diseased body will be exhibited for the sake of students. The medicos would explain internal organs of human beings with the help of dissected bodies. Snake Shyam and Rajkumar will be displaying non-venomous snakes in the premises to inform people regarding precautions to be taken in the event of snake bite and also difference between poison and non-poison snakes.
