Workshop on photography for blind in the City

Last Updated 12 October 2010, 19:42 IST

The two-day event beginning Wednesday would focus on the ‘tools and techniques’ the visually-challenged can adopt to master photography, which so far has been considered as a skill only for the sighted.

The workshop will be 15th for Partho who has been working with the visually-challenged in Mumbai for some years, teaching them how to handle the camera and a few "seeing through sound" techniques to get an idea of what the camera lense is capturing.

He was himself inspired a few years ago by famous blind photographers across the world about whom he learnt through the internet.

"The offer came from them (Shankara Hospital) to conduct it in Bangalore," Partho told Deccan Herald. "They are teaming up with Sight Savers International (SSI) and are bringing about 20 students for the workshop," he said.

For more details on the workshop, contact Partho on 9821474731, email: parthobhowmick@gmail.com
