Acting on a tip off, the police team lead by DySP Jayanth Shetty laid the trap and they succeeded in tracing the car in which the dacoits were travelling and arrested Bharath (22), Venkatesh (21) and Nayaz (29). However, two persons managed to flee.
Informing the same to media persons, Udupi SP Pravin Power said that the dacoits were on their way from Bangalore to commit dacoity in and around Udupi. As many as seven big sized sharp knives, one plastic toy revolver, one Maruthi Alto car which is supposed to have been stolen, have been sized.
The gang members are involved in many cases of murder, robbery, kidnap and attempts to dacoity in Bangalore city and were convicted in many cases, Pawar said and added that they were most wanted by Bangalore police in many cases.
Pawar said Bharath was recently acquitted in a murder case of rowdy Kulla Seena of Rajgopal Nagar. Venkatesh has 7 cases on him while Nayaz had undergone sentence for 7 years along with his concubine for committing the murder of her husband by smashing his head with a boulder.
