In the under-14 final, Akshay, seeded second in both categories, beat out favourite and top seed SD Prajwal Dev of Karnataka 6-4, 6-0. Then, he toppled fifth seed Nishanth Rebello 6-4, 6-3 in the under-16 final to clinch his second title.

The girls’ under-14 crown was captured by fourth seed Shameema A of Tamil Nadu after she eased past third-seeded State-mate Bhavani Balakumar 6-4, 6-1.

Shameema, though, lost out on the under-16 title after she went down to Y Pranjala of Andhra Pradesh 7-6 (7-6), 6-0 in the final. In the under-16 boys’ doubles, Nishanth teamed up with Harsha Manjunath to get some measure of revenge by beating IB Akshay and Nikki Poonacha 6-4, 6-2. The girls’ doubles title went to Shameema A and Karman Kaur after they overcame Preeti Bandurgi and Abhilash V 6-2, 0-6, 10-1 in a tough three-setter.
