Lokayukta moots transfer policy

 
Speaking to trainees who are soon to be posted as inspectors of Income Tax in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Goa, here on Friday, the Lokayukta said that the grounds for any premature transfer should be outlined in the policy. Chief Secretary and not politicians should determine the state-level transfers.

Advising the trainees to be humane to the public, Justice Santosh Hegde said that IT officers too are subjects of the government and hence should treat the common man with dignity.

“Essence of good governance is being available to people who have a legitimate grievance” he opined.
