The judge said the society should shun carelessness towards psychic patients and help them join the mainstream of the society.

The patients recover early if society starts recognising them as part of the community and shower shower and affection.

It  was important that four pillars of the democracy - the executive, legislature, judiciary and the media worked in tandem to bring about prosperity in these crucial sectors, he said.

The World Mental Health Day which falls on Oct 10 every year was observed on Wednesday as the city was immersed in Dasara celebrations in the last few days.
The programme was organised joinly by zilla panchayat, district health department, District Legal Services Authority, District Mental Services Authority and other forums.
