Hoax bomb call at city school

Principal of the School, Usha Rao received the call informing that two RDX bombs have been planted in the premises. She informed the police and the cops attached to bomb squad swung into action along with sniffer dogs. The teachers and students were vacated, while the cops and canine screened the area. It  later turn out to be a hoax as no such bombs were found.

It’s the second such incident in the recent times with the school receiving the similar threat in June. Following the first incident, the telephone at the school had been equipped with caller identification instrument and the call was traced to a telephone booth on Gurukar street in K R Mohalla. Nazarbad police have registered a case.

South police have arrested a journalist on multiple charges in the city, on Thursday. ‘Snehamayi’ Krishna of ‘Suddi Suggi’ a tabloid and a resident of Gundurao Nagar here is that person. He had allegedly published an article in his journal threatening to unmask Gowrambike of Hootagalli who claimed to be ‘possessed’ at times. She had embraced sainthood from a prominent mutt. Krishna had been demanding  ` one lakh from her, threatening to defame her by publishing another article.

On Wednesday, he asked her to come with the amount to a particular place only to change three places. He finally met her near the checkpost on Mysore- Nanjangud road. Gowrambike expressed her helplessness to arrange the amount, only to irk him. She was accompanied by her two children and another two youth at that time. Krishna who wasn’t ready to  buy her words, tried to capture her children’s photo from his cellphone.

He also abused those two  youth and threatened to murder them before leaving the spot. Petrified, Gowrambike lodged a complaint at the police station midnight. Acting on her complaint, the cops arrested him on Thursday.
