Certificate programme in chess

NIIT and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), have launched a certificate programme in ‘Chess as a Mind Booster’, to enable development of young minds through chess.

The programme aims to encourage young students to play chess and subsequently help them with logical reasoning and other life skills. The programme will help students to learn the game, practice, solve puzzles, analyse moves and enrich their knowledge.

Course in teaching German

Goethe-Insitut/Max Mueller Bhavan is introducing a distance learning programme for a Diploma in Teaching German (DTG) as a foreign language. Art contest for children 
Epson India has launched the 2010 edition of the Epson Creative Imaging Contest for school children. Contestants are encouraged to explore art in various forms covering photography, painting, sketching, digital graphics, miniature models, paper craft, collages and any other form of paper. They need to ensure all art works are made using inkjet or laser prints.

Photographs and Digital Art need to be submitted as digital A4 inkjet or laser prints accompanied by a soft copy of the same in a CD. The winner of the contest will be rewarded with an all-expense-paid trip to Japan to receive the award. Learn Mandarin

The Bangalore chapter of the Chinese Institute of Chennai is conducting a 40-hour course that teaches conversational Mandarin, and reading and writing skills in Pinyin, a Romanised spelling system of the Chinese language, used to represent Chinese sounds with European letters.
