31,100 beneficiaries to receive proceeds of welfare programmes

Speaking to media here on , he informed that Rs 49.20 crores will be utilised for the welfare programmes and 31,100 beneficiaries will receive the proceeds of the programmes.

Loans will be procured from National Minorities Development Finance Commission to design the plans for cluster and direct loan programmes. During 2008-09 financial year the Board has received allocations of Rs 49.20 from the State government, of which about 34,140 beneficiaries have received the sum of Rs 4,202.01 lakhs under the various programmes of micro-finance scheme, he added.

There is a shortage of officials and staff in the newly constituted district committees. Majority of the staff engaged are temporary employees. Government has decided to recruit as many as 67 officials by the end of July.

A sum of Rs 2.23 crores are being invested to provide the necessary infrastructure to all the district committees.

The Corporation has the committees in all the districts of the State except Uttara Kannada, he said and informed that the loan recovery is a big problem. As many as Rs 160 crores of loan is still pending with KMDCL, he added.

District coordinator Ramamurthy Mayya, District General Secretary K F Kallikotti, State Wakf Committee member M Salim and others were present.
