District Secretary Durgaprasad said “Conservator of Forest G N Srikantaiah had sent a proposal of Rs 350 crore to control wild elephant menace in July 2008.

However, the proposal is pending before the government. Government should take measures to implement the proposal.”  To check the elephants entering villages, forest department should initiate measures to grow jackfruit, bamboo in Nagarahole forest.

Drinking water facility should be provided to elephants in forest itself by removing silts from the tanks. DCF Rajashekar and ACF Vijaykumar said “several measures have been taken to check wild elephant menace.”
