Giving the details of the vehicle, Punjab DGP K K Attri informed Badal at Chief Minister's residence that this Low Carrier Vehicle has been designed by the special wing of Punjab police to enable the police forces to have a facility of hydraulically raised bullet proof chamber with two machine guns rising 16 to 20 feet above the ground level for deterrence and domination in terrorism affected areas.

The Police Chief said that in 1990, he had launched a unique operational facility in the form of a "Special Wing" with sourcing of knowledge and experience of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Director Punjab Dr. Gopalji Mishra.

This wing was assisted by scientists of FSL Punjab, Wireless Wing technical staff and created working relationship with DRDO Laboratories/Engineering Colleges and national laboratories.

Besides this, the Special Wing designed BP Vehicles, BP Mobile Morchas and carried out R and D on steel, polycarbonate and glass.

Appreciating Attri's efforts, the Chief Minister hoped that the special wing would contribute immensely for modernizing the police force with such fully equipped vehicles with ultra-modern facilities to face day-to-day challenges from the anti-social elements.
