Indians free to seek jobs in Libya

The ministry of overseas Indian affairs imposed the ban in July due to complaints of non-payment of salary to Indian workers by their employers in the north African country.
“With the efforts of the ministry and the Indian mission in Libya, outstanding salaries of Indian workers are being paid and the workers are being sent back," said a statement from the ministry.

"Since the situation has improved, it has been decided to lift the ban imposed on emigration clearance for Libya with immediate effect,” the ministry said.

Following complaints of non-payment of salary and violation of contract conditions by employers in Libya and recruiting agents in India, the ministry earlier decided that no emigration clearance will be granted to Indian workers, including nurses, for employment in that country.
