Obama's UN backing was powerful endorsement: BJP

"It was a powerful endorsement. It is very welcome. Very eloquently put," BJP leader Jaswant Singh reporters.

Singh, a former external affairs minister, was reacting to Obama's address to members of the Indian parliament in which he welcomed India's bid for a permanent seat in the UNSC.

"In the years ahead, I look forward to a reformed UN Security Council that includes India as a permanent member," Obama said.
