Hazra’s works

A solo show of Paresh Hazra will be on view at Galerie De’Arts, 11th Floor, Barton Centre, 84, M G Road till November 12, between 11 am and 7 pm.

‘Shades of a Palette’

An exhibition called Shades of a Palette of two artists, Anita and Dipak Mukherjee, will be on till November 13, 11 am to 7 pm at Renaissance Gallerie, 104, Westminster, 13, Cunningham Road.

‘Leo’

Galleryske presents Leo (procedures in search of an original index) by Sreshta Premnath till December 4 at Galleryske, 2 Berlie Street, Langford Town.

‘Graphitas’

Right Lines Art Gallery will present Graphitas, an exhibition of etchings, lithos, linos, digital prints and serigraphs, by senior artists from November 18 to December 2 at Right Lines Art Gallery, 270, 1st floor, 1st Main, Defence Colony, Indiranagar. The show will include works of artists Yusuf Arakkal, Sakti Burman, Jogen Chowdhury, Anil Dubey, Tapan Ghosh, Sanat Kar, Ravi Kumar Kashi, Krishen Khanna, Tyeb Mehta, R M Palaniappan, Surya Prakash, Babu Easwar Prasad, Srinivas Reddy, Gopal Sanyal, Paritosh Sen, Lalu Prasad Shaw and K G Subramanyan. The gallery timings are 10 am to 7 pm.

Unique tradition

Subtle: BaramasaMahua Art Foundation brings renowned art historian B N Goswamy to collaborate with two talents — classical vocalist Ashwini Bhide, and Odissi dancer, Madhavi Mudgal, to take the viewer into one of the most enduring, and moving themes of the Indian artistic tradition, the Baramasa Song of the Twelve Months and Gita Govinda Song of Krishna and the Love of Radha. The programme will be held on November 12 and 13, 6 pm to 9 pm at the NGMA.

Souza’s creation

Apparao Gallery presents Before the canvas series a painting by renowned artist F N Souza. Souza brought a radical conceptual and stylistic shift with his powerful representations. The exhibition will be held till November 28 at Apparao Gallery,The Presidency, 82, St Mark’s Road.

MUSIC

Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira is celebrating its founder’s day on November 17, 6 pm at Bangalore Gayana Samaja, K R Road, Basavanagudi. U Shrinivas will present a
mandolin recital on the occasion. Shrinivas will be accompanied by C N Chandrashekar on violin, V Praveen on mridangam and U N Giridhar Udupa on ghatam. 


Young performers

The Young Performer Concert is an initiative taken by ‘Kawai Pianos’ and ‘Theme’ to provide a platform to young and up-and-coming musicians. On November 21, 5 pm, Usha Aron (piano) and Johnson J W (music theatre) will perform at Theme Piano World, 817, Girija, 8th Block, 20th Main, Koramangala.

‘Guruguhagaanam’

Sri Krishna Kalakshetra (ISKCON) and ‘Guruguhaamrta’ would be joining hands to showcase a few rarely heard compositions of Muddusvami Dikshitar in a programme called Guruguhagaanam on November 13 at the Multi Vision Theatre, ISKCON from 5.30 pm to 8 pm.

Fourteen eminent youth musicians of the State such as G Ravi Kiran, Amritha Venkatesh, Krishna Prasad, Vinay Hegde, Hariharan, Vrinda Acharya would be sharing the stage and showcasing the choicest of Dikshitar’s kritis. Charulata Ramanujam and C Cheluvaraju, two of the top ranking accompanists, would be supporting this team on the violin and mridangam respectively.

Vocal recital

Srividya Kala Kendra presents Deepotsava Concert, a vocal recital by R K Padmanabha, on November 14, 6 pm at Srividya Auditorium, 27th Cross, 17th Main Road, BSK 2nd Stage. 

‘Rock Riders’

Harley-Davidson has launched an annual rock music property called
‘Harley Rock Riders’ and as part of this, Split and Thermal and a Quarter will be performing at Hard Rock Café on November 11, 8 pm.

French delight

Alliance Française, in collaboration with the Embassy of France, is hosting a concert, YAPA, a trio of guitars and percussion, on November 13, 7.30 pm. This group from France has four musicians who play their instruments with mastery and passion.  

‘White Shoe Theory’

Brett Lee and his band White Shoe Theory, who have given a new perspective to the genre of soft rock, will perform live for Indian music lovers, at Pebbles, Palace Grounds on November 13, 7 pm. White Shoe Theory will be performing songs from their upcoming album. 

In concert

Priyanka C Prakash will present a vocal concert on November 13, 6.30 pm at Devagiri Shri Venkateshwara Temple, No 9, 15th Main, 13th Cross, Banashankari 2nd Stage. She will be accompanied on the violin by Meera Rajkumar, and on the mridangam by Rajkumar.

Screenings

Art, Resources and Teaching is holding screenings of contemporary art documentaries by Art21 at the National Gallery of Modern Art Auditorium, N 49, Manikyavelu Mansion, Palace Road. These documentaries give us an insight on the work of contemporary artists whose subjects revolve around themes such as Protest, Ecology’ or ‘Power. On November 20, 6 pm, watch Memory and Contemporary art. On November 27, 6 pm, Ecology and contemporary art will be screened. On November 28, 11.30 am, you can watch Protest and Contemporary Art while on December 4, 6 pm Systems and Contemporary Art will be screened. For details, call 22342338.

‘Discovering Eden’

Discovering Eden, an exhibition of textile art by Sarah Thomas, will be on at Alliance Francaise from November 12 to 14. The exhibition is an exploratory journey of texture and colour, capturing the hues of nature in its many forms using two vibrant dyeing techniques ‘Shibori’ and ‘Batik’ technique.

Play time

Mashaal Theatre Group presents Deluxe Hair Cutting Saloon, a play in Hindi on November 12, 7.30 pm and on November 13, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara.

‘Haasya Mela’

Antharanga will present the 10th version of Haasya Mela on November 13 and November 14 at H N Kalkshetra, National College, Jayanagar in memory of humourist Beechi and comedian Dinesh.       Renowned humourists and artistes like Gangavathi Pranesh, Sudha Baragur, Krishne Gowda, Umashi, Narsimha Joshi, Mysore Anand will participate in the programme.

The extravaganza will continue with a seven-day theatre festival Rangah Saptaha from November 15 to 21.

During the fest, Kala Gangothri will present Mysore Mallige, Antharanga will present Huttadalli Hutta and Shalabhanjike, Sanchaya will present Thadrupu and Rupaantara will present Ramadhanya, among others. For details, call 26671585.

‘Naa Tukaram Alla’

Naa Tukaram Alla, a tragi-comedy in Kannada, will be staged on November 20 and 21, 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara.

On November 21, there will be a show at 3.30 pm also. The play is directed by S Surendranath and music is by Pravin Godkhindi.

 ‘Queen of Spices’

Abbakka Rani, The Queen of Spices, an original opera of India’s first freedom fighter queen Rani Abbakka of Ullal, who sunk the dreaded Portuguese Armada will be staged on November 13 at 6.45 pm at Ravindra Kalakshetra, J C  Road.

‘Neenaanaadre...’

Neenaanaadre Naaneena will be staged from November 16 to 19, 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara. The play is produced by Sanket.

It is written and directed by Surendranath, with Sihikahi Chandru in the lead. He is supported by Pa Pa Pandu Jahangir, Srinath Vasishta and Kalpana Naganath.

‘Rizwaan’

Indian Ensemble will present Rizwaan, a play in Hindustani and English, written and directed by Abhishek Majumdar, based on Agha Shahid Ali’s collection of poems The country without a post office, on November 14, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara, This is devised by Indian Ensemble and Students of FTII, Pune. ‘Kala-Nadam’

Graceful: Artistes of Orissa Dance Academy.Narthan Academy of Dance and Music is celebrating the 11th Kala-Nadam Festival of Classical Dance from November 13 to 15 at ADA Rangamandira, J C Road from 6 pm to 8.30 pm. ‘Winter Fest’

Just Dance presents the ‘7th Annual Winter Fest’ till December 4. The intensive dance workshop will be called Learn, Perform, Party.
