Minister lends ear, students continue stir

They are demanding amendments to the cadre and recruitment rules to consider the BSc Forestry graduates for the posts of Range Forest Officers (RFOs) and Assistant Conservators of Forests (ACFs).

Forest Minister C H Vijaya Shankar held a meeting in Bangalore on Wednesday and has constituted a committee to look into the demands of the students. The committee has been asked to submit the report within one month. The minister has promised to look into the demands of the students after the committee submits its report to the government. The meeting was attended by Minister for Primary Education Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, Forest department Principal Secretary Meera Saxena, Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Dr Narayana Gowda along with the student leaders.

The Minister has also directed the Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor to urge the students to withdraw their strike.

However, the students have refused to withdraw their strike saying that they will continue the stir till their demands are fulfilled. As the students are boycotting the classes, the college hostel has stopped the mess facility.
