Probe begins into Air India flight emergency landing

Last Updated 11 November 2010, 06:49 IST

The Dammam-bound AI 915 flight of the national carrier took off at 6 p.m. Wednesday. But it returned to the airport 40 minutes later after the captain got a warning about a snag in the aircraft's doors.

Air India station manager K.D. Sivanath told IANS that officials of the Director General of Civil Aviation have arrived for inquiry. “Our engineers have started investigations. The inquiry is a routine thing, whenever incidents like this happen,” said Sivanath.

The A-330 aircraft had 82 passengers onboard, including two infants. It reportedly made a hard landing, due to which it was stuck in the runway for four hours. The airport remained closed during this interval. "Stranded passengers will be flown tomorrow morning," Sivanath said.
