6,576 mothers to get sarees under Bhagyalakshmi scheme

Govt has released Rs 30 lakh for each dist for the programme

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Women and Child Welfare Department Deputy Director K Vijayakshmi Shenoy said that the government had already announced Rs 30 lakh each to all districts to conduct the saree distribution programmes. “A total of Rs 15 lakh has already been released,” she added.

As many as 129 buses will be arranged by the department for the conveyance of beneficiaries from various parts of the district, she said adding that 23 buses will be arranged in Madikeri taluk, 56 in Somwarpet and 50 buses will be arranged in Virajpet taluk.

The responsibility of bringing beneficiaries to the venue has been given to the Revenue officials and anganwadi workers. The entitled children under the Bhagyalakshmi scheme will be given two sachets of milk of 200 ml each, Shenoy said adding that Kudige Dairy of the KMF will supply the milk to the venue.

CM to distribute sarees

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will distribute sarees to 15 mothers, five each from three taluks, at the programme to be held at the Gandhi Maidan on November 15.

Sarees will be distributed to all other beneficiaries in the buses itself, Shenoy said adding that about 7,000 chairs will be arranged in the programme venue.

Free medical check up camp will also be organised for the Bhagyalakshmi scheme beneficiaries. If required, advanced treatment will be given to children at a nearest hospital.

Minister for Women and Child Welfare C C Patel will distribute Bhagyalakshmi bonds to beneficiaries, while District In-charge Minister C H Vijayashankar  will distribute health cards to the beneficiaries on the occasion.

Exhibition

Products made by various women’s organisations will be displayed at an exhibition to be organised as part of the programme.

The stalls will be open for public on November 15 and 16. Vidhan Sabha Speaker K G Bopaiah will inaugurate the exhibition on November 15 at 9.30 am.
