Ganesh fights past Harsh to clinch crown

Shikha wins under-14 girls title; Vashisht, Shivani take home under-12 titles

Ganesh overcame Harsh Lakhani 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the final. Ganesh, who lost the first set 3-6, clinched the second set 6-4 before bagging the third set 6-3.

In the corresponding girls’ category, a similar plot was enacted before Shikha N Singh held her nerve to claim the girls’ under-14 crown after beatin Shivani Manjanna. Shikha won 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.  However, Shivani had some luck in the lower age category. The 11-year-old overcame S Soha 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in the summit clash.

C Vashisht outplayed Dhruv Sunish 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 to pocket the boys’ under-12 title. Vashisht, who lost in the boys’ under-14 semifinals on Thursday, held on to grab the first set against Dhruv Sunish before raising his game by couple of notches in the second set, clinching it 6-0, to claim the title.

Girls, under-14: Shikha N Singh bt Shivani Manjanna 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.
