Yeddyurappa to distribute sarees today

Addressing the media on the sidelines of the preparations on Friday, Medical Education and District In-charge Minister S A Ramdas said there are a total of 53,200 beneficiaries in the district comprising 9,800 in city, followed by 6,606 in rural, 8,524 in Nanjangud, 7,202 in T Narsipura, 6,099 in Hunsur, 3,763 in Periyapatna, 5,172 in K R Nagar and 6,023 in H D Kote. However, among them 17,045 are being ferried to the programme venue in a total of 276 KSRTC buses. Apart from the bonds, sarees will be distributed to the mothers of the beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will arrive by flight at 12 noon and the programme is expected to start at 12.30 pm, said Ramdas.

Exhibition

The highlight of the event will be an exhibition that will stress on educating the visitors about the pride of Mysore- ‘Nanjangud Rasabale’ (banana) ‘Mysore Veelyedele’ (betel leaves), ‘Mysore Mallige’ (flower) that have geographical index (GI) tag.

The horticulture department has been entrusted with the job of demonstrating the skills deployed to grow them, besides other process to the interest of the visitors. Moreover, the visitors at the expo will be greeted with a bunch of ‘Mysore Mallige’. About 20 departments will be exhibiting their programmes with the only intention of creating awareness among the people.

Health camps

It was detected during the health check up camps conducted for both the kids and their mothers that they have serious complaints. In all 350 kids and 35 women will be referred to the bigger hospitals for further treatment. Similarly, health check-up camp will be organised on November 13 at 9.30 beside the programme venue.

Competitions

To encourage children’s to exhibit their talents, on the spot drawing and other competitions will be conducted at the exhibition venue on November 14 observed as ‘Children’s Day. The day also coincides with World Diabetes Day and programmes have been planned to create awareness about the disease, that includes a health check-up camp again, Ramdas added.
