Governor has created a constitutional crisis: BJP

Last Updated 14 November 2010, 15:45 IST

"The Governor was purposely pushing the government to an embarrassing situation whenever it wants to adopt people- oriented activities," BJP spokesperson Ayanur Manjunath told reporters here.

He also questioned the silence of Congress and other opposition parties on the issue when all of them had raised hue and cry when the ordinance was first sent for promulgation.

Bhardwaj had yesterday said that he deemed it a fit case for the state government to discuss the Karnataka Panchayat Raj amendment ordinance relating to reservation ceiling of 50 per cent for SCs/STs and OBCs on the floor of the legislature.

BJP was not afraid of holding elections and had already geared up its cadre to face the polls, Manjunath said.

"There are only three possible solutions before the government -- to come up with a new solution, approach the Supreme Court for reconsideration of its order (relating to reservation ceiling) and holding elections by convincing all," he said.
