A Division bench, comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice N Kumar, was disposing of a writ petition filed by the firm challenging the stoppage order of mining operations passed by Range Forest Officer, Sandur (Bellary District) and also the FIR filed by the RFO before First Class Judicial Magistrate in this connection.
The bench also directed the release of mining equipment, machinery and vehicles seized by the RFO during a raid conducted on the firm's premises on August 28.
However, the prayer by the petitioner for release of iron-ore seized by the forest authorities was declined by the bench.
It directed the petitioner to file a representation before the forest authorities seeking release of seized iron-ore and the authorities to consider the representation in accordance with law.
