Private firms get notices for poor quality of flyover

Last Updated 15 November 2010, 18:53 IST

Following an inspection of the Gali Anjaneya flyover by Chairman for Palike Standing Committee on Major Works H Ravindra and Deputy Mayor N Dayanand, the BBMP decided to issue notices to third party inspection company, Civil Aid Technoclinic Pvt Limited and the project consultant, STUP.

They charged the Civil Aid personnel for carrying out the third party inspection in an unscientific manner and asking to demolish the structure without bringing it to the notice of the BBMP. It is said that the Civil Aid directed the workers to use hammers instead of concrete cutters to raze down portions of the flyover.

The committee members accompanied by the inspection team were irked by the bumpy stretch of the flyover. Ravindra said: “We have directed our engineers to complete the flyover work within four months. If the deadline is not met the contractor will be blacklisted and engineers will be held responsible, he added.

The Gali Anjaneya flyover, stretching 660  metres in lenth and 21 metres in width, is expected to ease the traffic woes on Vijayanagar Road. The project worth 20.83 crore, has been provided with financial assistance under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM).

Stormwater drain

Work on the stormwater drain is expected to be completed once the issue is resolved with the contractors and fresh tender is issued. It is learnt that the previous contractor, ECCI has abandoned the drain work.
