11,987 mothers to get sarees from CM in district

CM to lay foundation for works worth Rs 9 crore, inaugurate 5 works worth Rs 1,421 lakh

District in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar, addressing a news conference on Tuesday said that a total of 11,987 mothers and 12,983 girl children from five taluks of the district will take part in the programme. As many as 232 KSRTC buses will be deputed for conveyance of the beneficiaries. Each bus will bring 50 mothers with 50 beneficiaries along with 5 anganwadi workers who will be deputed as supervisors in each bus. A total of 2,087 anganwadi workers will be on duty for the programme.

Health camp

Special health check up camps will be held to maintain good health among the Bhagyalakshmi beneficiaries. As many as 317 children have been identified under the Bala Sanjeevani programme and 37 children will undergo surgery to cure various health problems, in the district, said Palemar.

He said that 200 ml flavoured milk for children and half litre drinking water will be distributed among the beneficiaries along with meals. While returning from the programme, the mothers of the beneficiaries will be given sarees in the buses after symbolic distribution to few during the programme.

The expenditure of the entire programme sums up to Rs 43 lakh, including the transport, venue set up, food and other arrangements.

Stree Shakti Bhavan

Palemar said that district administration has sanctioned 5 cents of land for setting up a Stree Shakti Bhavan at Bejai, Mangalore to market the products produced by various Self Help Groups. It has been proposed to build the Bhavan at an estimated cost of Rs 65 lakh. Department of Women and Child Welfare has been sanctioned with Rs nine lakh while Palemar promised to release Rs 10 lakh for the project. MLA N Yogish Bhat promised Rs five lakh for the project from MLA’s fund.

The Chief Minister will lay foundation for the same on Wednesday, symbolically at Puttur. Meantime, a similar Stree Shakti Bhavan built at Puttur at a cost of Rs 20 lakh will be inaugurated by the CM.

He informed that on Wednesday, the CM will inaugurate five development work undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 1,421 lakh and lay foundation stone for works of Rs 9 crore.

The CM will also inaugurate Bala Vedike, an initiative of Women and Child Welfare Department to bring out hidden talent of the students.

Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadhav and MLA N Yogish Bhat were present.
