Cong to face ZP polls under Ambi's leadership

The unit also decided to go for the polls without having alliance with any parties. The leaders called upon the party workers to work like a team instead of caring for individual interests.

Internal bickering

Internal bickering and groupism are the reasons for party’s debacle in all the elections held so far.

The opposition parties like Janata Dal (Secular) took advantage of the situation and strengthened its base in the district.

The leaders stressed on shedding differences and work for the victory of party candidates in ZP, TP elections.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambareesh exuded confidence that the party would sweep the elections. He promised to provide all possible help for the growth of the party in Mandya district.  

District Congress President K B Chandra shekhar ruled out any alliance with other parties and clarified that the issue never figured in the meeting of State leaders held recently.
Former minister M S Atamanda, Congress Leader Ravindra Srikantaiah and former Mysugar Chairman  M B Srikanth were among the prominent absentees.

MLA Suresh gowda, KPCC Member Dr C K Ravishankar, Congress leaders Gurucharan, C D Gangadhar, L D Ravi, Vivekananda and others were present.

  ‘I still enjoy people’s respect’

Former union minister, Ambareesh said, if he was supposed to be chief minister, he would have resigned to the post instead of ruling the State in the company of  tainted politicians like Halappa, M P Renukacharya and Kattasubramanya Naidu. Addressing the party workers convention here on Monday, he said in politics, respect is more important than power. He was making this statement as he had seen 15 chief ministers in the State. “Even if I go to the Vidhana Soudha now, people respect me. Winning the people’s love and affection is very important. I am never after power and was not hated by anyone. I will be happy if the watchman of my house becomes CM”.
