Suicide pact goes awry; youth 'murders' married kin

Police who busted the case said, it was nothing short of a filmy incident as Mani (32) wife of Shivanagappa, was having an extra-marital affair with Santosh from the past six months.
The trouble started when Santosh’s parents were planning for his marriage with another girl. Obviously the duo was disturbed and decided to end their lives.

Strangled

Accordingly, Mani decided to strangle self at her house in Yaraganahalli here on November 8. Strangely, as told to cops by Santosh in his confession statement, he tightened the grip on the towel, following a request by Mani to help her kill self. Eventually, Mani breathed her last in no time.

Soon after Santosh left for his native and also tried to commit suicide by consuming overdose of tablets, but in vain.  Acting on an information, the police team led by Inspector K C Poovaiah nabbed Santosh in Chamarajanagar bus stand.

Woman robbed

A woman was robbed of her gold chain worth ` 35,000 in Ramakrishna Nagar in the city on Tuesday. Chetana a clerk at Christ Public School and wife of H R S Bhat, a bank employee, residing at H block is the victim. Chetana had gone to fetch her daughter from home tuition around 7.30 pm.

She was parking the vehicle in front of the house where she had left her ward at G block, when a stranger walked up to  her and pulled the chain, before fleeing in a vehicle with a rider on the seat.

Kuvempunagar police have registered a case.
