The event will highlight the works of 14 designers – both established and up-and-coming. Some of the designs on display will be – elaborate dhoti kurta ensembles with kantha embroidery by Sharbari Datta from Kolkata; hand-woven masterpieces by the famous Bangladeshi designer Bibi Russell; and Satkrit’s cocktail collection inspired by the Nagamandala concept where the fabric intertwines the body like two snakes in unison.

The event will also feature the collection of Amanda Bachalli, specially catering to the global audience and the silhouette inspired Western wear by Anjalie Sharma, who will also display structured saris and cholis.

Each day will see as many as eight back-to-back shows. There will be 25 models walking the ramp. Kannada actor Diganth will be walking the ramp on November 19 to showcase the unique viewpoint of Sharbari Datta’s work. On November 20, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut will display the denim wear from Lawman Pg3.

“The awards will be presented to participating designers in categories like Lifetime Achievement Award, Best Use of Traditional Textile Awards and Best Emerging Brand Award,” said Dr Anuj Saxena, managing director Elder Healthcare Ltd, the organiser of the Fashion Extravaganza, for their German cosmetic brand BeYu.

The designers present during the press meet to announce the event said that it was a great brand building platform which can help one establish himself or herself in the fashion industry. Satkrit also requested the audience to view fashion as an art form and not merely as a piece of entertainment.

The show will be choreographed and put together by Prasad Bidapa.
