Art, Resources and Teaching is holding screenings of contemporary art documentaries by Art21 at the National Gallery of Modern Art Auditorium, No. 49, Manikyavelu Mansion, Palace Road. These documentaries give us an insight into the work of artists whose subjects revolve around themes such as Protest’ Ecology or Power. On November 20, 6 pm, watch Memory and Contemporary art. Master touch

Right Lines Art Gallery will present Graphitas, an exhibition of etchings, lithos, linos, digital prints and serigraphs, by senior artists from November 18 to December 2 at Right Lines Art Gallery, 270, 1st floor, 1st Main, Defence Colony, Indiranagar. The show will include works of artists Yusuf Arakkal, Sakti Burman, Jogen Chowdhury, Anil Dubey, Tapan Ghosh, Sanat Kar, Ravi Kumar Kashi, Krishen Khanna, Tyeb Mehta, R M Palaniappan, Surya Prakash, Babu Easwar Prasad, Srinivas Reddy, Gopal Sanyal, Paritosh Sen, Lalu Prasad Shaw and K G Subramanyan. Abstract work

The Sun and The Moon, an abstract art by renowned artist N Ramachandran, will be exhibited till November 27 at Apparao Gallery, St Mark’s Road.

Souza’s creation

Artistic: A work by F N Souza. Apparao Gallery presents Before the canvas series, by renowned artist F N Souza. Sharmila Gupta, disciple of Padmini Ramachandran, will be presenting her Bharatanatyam recital on November 20 at the Indian Institute of World Culture, B P Wadia Road. The performance will be from 6 pm to 7.30 pm


Shivakami, a dance troupe of Natya Niketan will present Navarasollasa, a dance drama directed by Revathi Narasimhan on November 20 at ADA Rangamandira, J C Road at 6.15 pm.

‘Tulasi Vandana’

The Structural School of Fine Arts is organising Tulasi Vandana, a dance and music programme on November 18 at Vijayaranga, Vijayanagar at 6.30 pm. Children will stage a few Haridasa compositions. ‘Winter Fest’

Just Dance presents the ‘7th Annual Winter Fest’ till December 4. The intensive dance workshop will be called Learn, Perform, Party.

‘Naa Tukaram Alla’

Naa Tukaram Alla, a tragi-comedy in Kannada, will be staged on November 20 and 21, 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara.

On November 21, there will be a show at 3.30 pm also. The play is directed by S Surendranath and music is by Pravin Godkhindi.

‘Bhagwaan Dhoondo’

Yours Truly Theatre is hosting a musical interactive theatre performance, Bhagwaan Dhoondo, a play in English play on November 21 at 7 pm at ADA Ranga Mandira, J C Road.

The play is directed by Ranji David and Nandini Rao. The music is by band Aagam, a Carnatic rock band.

Theatre fest

Antharanga, an amateur theatre group is hosting a seven-day drama festival Rangah Saptaha till November 21 at H N Kalakshetra, National College, Jayanagar.

Grand festival

Academy of Music is hosting a Grand Music Festival from November 24 to 28 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall at 6.30 pm. The K K Murthy Memorial Chowdiah Award will be presented on the occasion.

Carnatic concert

Soulful: Bombay JayashriGanjam is hosting, Flights of Fantasy, a three-day Carnatic music extravaganza at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall from November 19 to 21 at 6.30 pm. There will be performances by Dr N Ramani and Chitravina N Ravikiran, Sanjay Subrahmanyan and Bombay Jayashri. Mandolin strains

Sufi poetry

Seeking the Beloved, a festival of poetry by 17th century poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, featuring folk singers from Kutch; poetry readings and evocative storytelling of the love legends which feature in the Sufi poetry, will be held at Sophia School Auditorium, Sophia High School, 70, Palace Road on November 21, 6 pm to 10 pm. Live concert

Flying Cats will present a jazz-rock concert at BFlat on November 20, 8.30 pm. Sangoma Everett from the USA will be on drums; Mishko M’Ba from France will be on bass and Holger Jetter from Germany will be on electric violin. The Flying Cats are a seasoned, international trio, who play mostly original, contemporary jazz. They have been performing all over the world, in many diverse styles and formations.

Vocal treat

Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha is celebrating its silver jubilee year. As a part of this, on November 27, 6 pm, Vidwan K N Renganatha Sharma will present a vocal recital.

Mullaivasal G Chandramouli will be on the violin and  Palladam R Ravi will be on mridangam. There will be a musical discourse in Kannada — Haridasa Chintane-Sankirthane by Vidwan Vidyabhushana from December 2 to 5, 6 pm. Raghuram will play the violin, H S Sudhindra on mridangam and S N Narayanamurthy, Phanindra Bhaskara and S Srishylan will be on ghatam. The venue will be Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha, Purandara Bhavana, 8th Main Road, HAL Second Stage (behind Indiranagar Club).

Monthly programme

The best of Chopin

Soothing: Jerzy SterczynskiThe Embassy of the Republic of Poland, the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, Bangalore School of Music and Alliance Francaise are hosting, Universal Chopin, an evening of Chopindiana music and dance by Polish piano maestro Jerzy Sterczynski with Madhu Nataraj and STEM Kampni on November 18 at 7.30 pm at the Alliance Francaise.

The first part is a piano recital by Jerzy Sterczynski playing the best of Chopin. The intermezzo follows with the Chopin Bacarolle played live, with an episode by the dancers giving a visual glimpse of the music.  A group of eight dancers led by danseuse Madhu Nataraj will present choreographed dances to Mazurkas and Waltzes and a few other special pieces for the event.
