Karnataka bowlers call shots on day one

Karnataka skipper Shishir Bhavane, who won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first, was vindicated as his bowlers responded brilliantly at the RSI ground.

Hardly allowing Baroda off the hook, the hosts kept picking wickets at regular intervals before dismissing the visitors for a paltry 137 in 72.5 overs.

Right-arm pace bowlers RG More and HS Sharath picked up two wickets each and were ably supported by ZA Sayyad and Shreyas Gopal -- the duo too scalping two wickets each.
SS Gupta was the only batsman from Baroda showing some stomach for fight.

Holding his fort rather well while wickets kept tumbling at the other end, Gupta slammed an unbeaten 76 that was studded with seven hits to the fence.

In reply, Karnataka had reached 51 for one at stumps.

Brief scores: Baroda: 137 all out in 72.5 overs (SS Gupta 76; RG More 2-37, HS Sharath 2-28, ZA Sayyad 2-14, Shreyas Gopal 2-23) vs Karnataka: 51/1 in 19 overs (SS Darshan 32).
