Last Updated 23 November 2010, 18:44 IST

Following lack of rainfall, water supply was almost disrupted in the town, since many days.
As the water level at the reservoir has seen 30 percent rise, the town would be provided water supply, said Karnataka State Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Bethamangala Sub-division’s Assistant Executive Engineer Raghunathaiah Shetty.

It was in 2007, the reservoir had reached the brim but in the later years, the taluk suffered drought owing to lack of rainfall. Everyday at least 12 lakh gallons of water is required to feed the Kolar Gold Fields town. “With the present water level, we would not be able to provide water supply to the whole town. However, it would be a restrict supply,” he said urging the residents to make judicious use of water.  With the current water level, there would not be any problem in supplying water, till summer, he said.
