Cadence India design contest winners

Cadence Design Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd. has announced the winners of its annual design contest. The winners are VESIT from Mumbai in the Bachelor's category and IIT - Kharagpur in the Master's category.

The runners-up are Jadavpur University in the Bachelor's category and IIT - Bombay in the Master's category. Winners and runners-up receive a cash prize and a certificate of merit

COMPUDON 2011 launched
Top five performing students, one each in Word, Excel & PowerPoint (2007 version) & Word & Excel (2010 version) will represent India in the worldwide contest that will be held at San Diego, USA, in August 2011.

CyberLearning will be sponsoring the trip to USA for these five finalists.

Students aged between 13 and 25 years, enrolled in an approved academic institution and who have passed any one of the qualifying Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams pertaining to Word, Excel or PowerPoint are eligible to compete. For more details, visit: www.officecompetition.com

Entrepreneurship awareness drive

An Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD-2010), organised by the entrepreneurship cell of IIT-Kharagpur, under the auspices of ASBM, was held recently. According to the speakers at the event, entrepreneurial venture is a good option as SMEs account for possibly over 70% of employment in most countries, including advanced ones. Promotional videos prepared by the ED-cell of IIT-Kharagpur were shown on the occasion.

CordLife Academy launched

CordLife has announced the launch of CordLife Academy, a corporate learning and strategic talent management programme dedicated to providing technical and business education to the adult stem cell banking and life sciences industry.

The focus of this programme will be on developing curriculum centred in the areas of technology and know-how development, commercialisation, business management processes and laboratory operations.

CordLife plans to invest $1 million over two years in this corporate learning division to serve the continuing learning needs of over 300 staff across the group's global business.

German classes

The Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan is offering regular weekday German language courses from January 4, 2011 and weekend German language courses from January 8, 2011.
