Separate zone promised for hawkers

The assurance came in the wake of street vendors staging a protest on Monday in front of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike headquarters.

Ahmed on Tuesday said the move to remove street vendors from footpaths was taken on account of a series of complaints from citizens.

“There were a lot of complaints from people about not being able to walk on footpaths in Shivajinagar due to the street vendors occupying the place. We had to remove them,” he said.

After listening to the vendors who met Ahmed during his inspection, he is believed to have promised to redress their grievances after a detailed discussion with the MLA of the constituency.
