Plans to upgrade ASI museum in Halebeedu

The ASI has taken up this task with the help of Tourism Department to attract foreign tourists.

Speaking after inaugurating world Heritage Week celebrations organised by the Department of Arechogical Survey of India here, he said the ASI has already identified land near Kedareshwara building for this purpose.

Describing efforts being made to protect the ancient monuments and inscriptions, Prakash said the Centre stresses on the involvement of youths and local population in the conservation work.

Besides, several international private agencies interested in this endeavour, the UNESCO and other non-governmental organisations were also involved.

He stressed on creating awareness among students regarding conservation of heritage monuments in their surroundings. In the western countries, the students are involved in such works, he added.

ASI Officer P Aravalli, Lecturer Prabhavathi and others were present.
