Rural students top SSLC supplementary

The pass percentage of rural boys and girls is 54.36 and 61.09 as opposed to 49.49 and 57.57 for urban boys and girls, respectively. The results will be available at all high schools and junior colleges on Saturday at around 4 pm. Girls outperform boys

A total of 2,24,821 candidates appeared for the supplementary examination, out of whom over 1.2 lakh students have passed and around one lakh students failed. The overall pass percentage stood at 54.74 with the girls outperforming the boys even in the supplementary examinations. The pass percentage in the State for girls is 59.32 while that for boys is 51.95.

District-wise, Bijapur tops the the State with a pass percentage 84.98 followed by Bagalkot and Chikkodi in second and third places. Once again, Bidar stood last among the 33 educational districts with a pass percentage of 36.05. The district also had the lowest pass percentage (41.08 pc) in the examinations held in March.

Urban districts of the State were nearer to the bottom in the district-wise tally with the Bangalore South district being the worst of the lot. Bangalore South stands second from bottom with a pass percentage of 39.19 with Bangalore North performing slightly better with a pass percentage of 44.55. Mysore district too has performed poorly with a pass percentage of 44.16. Students from over 1.3 lakh schools appeared for the exam with aided schools in the State performing better than both government and unaided schools.
