The division bench comprising Chief Justice P D Dinakaran and Justice V G Sabhahit disposed the petition after Advocate General Ashok Harnhalli submitted that the police had filed charge sheets against some persons and submitted the same to the Mangalore Court.

Public interest litigation

The bench, disposing the petition said the proceedings should go along as per the law.

The matter was taken up as a suo motu public interest litigation after the South India Cell for Human Rights Education and Monitoring (SICHREM) wrote a letter to Chief Justice P D Dinakaran expressing certain doubts over the killing.
