Tusker dies of electrocution at Nandibattalu

Forest officials inspecting the carcass of a tusker at Nandibattalu village at Lingadahalli hobli in Tarikere taluk. The tusker had died of electrocution from electric fence near a jowar field.

The tusker had come in search of food to the jowar field and the forest officials say that elephant must have died on Sunday night itself. Since the tusker had died after getting electrocuted from the electric fence installed around the farm of Lala Naik, the fence has been removed by the forest department.

Lala Naik is absconding. Action will be initiated against him after the Post Mortem report of the tusker is out, said the officials.

Forest Officer G U Shankar has said that the elephant must have come from Bhadra reserve forest and must be about 16-years old.
