As a part of the festival, a pit of burning charcoal was set right in front of Mauneshwara Swamy temple. The devotees who had vowed to walk over burning charcoal on fulfilment of specific wishes offered their vow on the day.

A pit of one foot is dug and two loads of timber is put into the pit.

Fire is set on the heap of firewood after prayers, using camphor on the night before the annual festival. The pit will be ready with heap of burning charcoal on the festival day.

Once the idols of the dieties are taken to circumambulate around the pit, the devotees start walking over the charcoal to fulfil their vows.

The devotees offering vows walk with the idol of the deity from one end of the pit to the other.

The devotees who come to temple who have not vowed to offer ‘kendaseve’ can circumambulate the pit.
